White Feathers

I hope the last thing you heard was my voice
Telling you, over and over again how much I love you
I hope that you will feel my love for an eternity
I hope it blossoms through your soul, wherever you may be
I hope that my heartbeat continues to dance with yours
Merging so sweetly, melodically, like two butterflies swirling freely through a breeze

For isn't this what love truly does?
It binds us all
Sending waves of comfort to connecting hearts,
Defying all odds to break through time, reaching so heroically toward the stars

This is how much love I carry for you
It glides through every cell,
It shows through every speck of brown swimming through my eyes
I miss you
You were my sky,
You are my sky

And now I look up at the clouds with a different spirit
I lift my head to the skies with a distinct change of heart
One that knows you are no longer with me,
But cherishes the thought that we are never truly apart

I see you in all things
The butterflies that pass my way
The birds that sang me a song today
The green tresses of grass that stroke my feet
And the perfect white feathers that line the paths where we meet

So, I will smile at the sky as I think of you
I will bless each cloud that is surrounded in tones of blue
I will send you kisses, hoping that you catch each one
You are another angel with me now,
In our hearts, we will always carry this love

And with me you'll stay, my darling,
I'll keep watching out for every comfort you gift to me
As I walk without you,
On this blemished, earthly sea

Another of my poems from yesterday's Rising Voices poets event at Edmonton Green 💚

This is a very special poem- hence my enotion while reading it out loud for the first time. The video shows half the poem.

Here is my full poem - "Looking for You"💙🐾🤍🩶

I'm looking for you everywhere,
In a sunflower,
In a song,
Through the greenest blades of grass,
In the coolest droplets of rain,
In white, cotton clouds that hover
Moving so softly along

I'm looking for you everywhere
My eyes are open wide
Hoping, wishing for another glimpse
One more memory my mind can find

I'm looking for you everywhere
The sky is my dearest friend
I lift my heart to the heavens above
And send my love to you
Over and over again

I'm looking for you everywhere
So broken-hearted you left too soon
Your absence has carved out gaping holes
Our bodies, our hearts just keep missing you
A stillness, a silence has entered our home
I keep looking for you so I feel less alone

I don't ever want to forget you
And so I see you all the time
Though my hands can't touch you
My heart reaches you each moment
Another moment without you,
Another leap toward heaven, my heart will climb

This feels so much like a dream
You were here one moment
Gone the next
Snatched from our existence
Never to be seen again
I will miss you forever
I will love you through all space and time
Somehow, I need to believe you will be there to meet me when I reach the other side

And we will walk again,
Sleep side by side forever-more
There is no finite ending for hearts connected
This is a Godly, natural law

Stay close, my sweetheart
I will save each memory of you
One day,
We'll be together again
Running so freely through nature's greens and blues
Like the sky that is unending
My love will stick with you
My beautiful Sky seems bluer, brighter now,
Simply, because it is holding you

Looking for You (A poem for Sky)

I'm looking for you everywhere,
In a sunflower,
In a song,
Through the greenest blades of grass,

Your absence has carved out gaping holes
Our bodies, our hearts just keep missing you
