3 Routes to Self Mastery and Embracing your Autonomy
Self Mastery and Embracing Your Autonomy
We can define self mastery as the capacity to exert our own will to guide our future to one of our own choosing and direction. Fundamentally it represents having an esteemed vision of your future and the ability to harness the energy to realize it. Perhaps, rather than chasing rainbows and faulty illusions of material happiness- self mastery and autonomy should be our ultimate goal. It all begins with truth. Self mastery is a skill we learn by understanding the innate power of our soul strength. When we get out of our own way and move past our own self sabotaging thoughts and emotions, we can elevate our awareness to who we truly are.
“You will never have a greater or lesser dominion than that over yourself…the height of a man’s success is gauged by his self-mastery; the depth of his failure by his self-abandonment. …And this law is the expression of eternal justice. He who cannot establish dominion over himself will have no dominion over others.” ― Leonardo Da Vinci
We strip, scrape, and chisel away at all our own lies, limits, and failings, and those we permitted others to impose upon us so we can actualise our inherent potential. By doing so, we journey toward our higher intentions.
1. Awareness uncovers truth, truth leads to acceptance
My happiness grows in direct proportion to my acceptance, and in inverse proportion to my expectations.- Michael J Fox
It is a dark, messy, and chaotic pathway to self awareness and acceptance. You stand solitary and exposed in all your perfectly imperfect glory. It feels like destruction, yet that is what we need to break ourselves away from our self-created boundaries. We crawl through the darkness to walk toward our light.
2. Embrace a strong and undiluted sense of Purpose and Presence
“We should every night call ourselves to an account. What infirmity have I mastered today?
What passions opposed? What temptation resisted? What virtue acquired? Our vices will abort of themselves if they be brought every day to the shrift.” ― Seneca
Purpose and meaning are intrinsic to our existence. When we entertain a deep sense of belonging or being a part of the greater whole it thrusts us into new dimensions and challenges. We all have a presence, our own definitive impression of energy that is unique and vibrant. When we pull away at our external protective layers and all we have concealed behind our fears and worries, we can determine a greater sense of direction and illuminated focus. Purpose is rooted in our authenticity and buds through our attentive nurturing toward it. We all have a reason for being. The constellations of our hearts are connected through an infinite vibration. Once we become conscious of our connection and our place in the grander tapestry of stellar design we can tap in to an amplified energy. Something we vacuum into our entire being to keep aligned and centred.
We cannot master anything outside ourselves until we take full charge of what we hold within. When we attach a higher value to ourselves we inspire a deeper meaning in all we do.
3. Show devotion to your cause and solidify commitment
“If something burns your soul with purpose and desire, it’s your duty to be reduced to ashes by it. Any other form of existence will be yet another dull book in the library of life.” ― Charles Bukowski
In our devotion and commitment to others, we sometimes dissipate the devotion and commitment to ourselves. Integrity speaks to us to clearly define our own values, beliefs, and behaviours so that we create the standards that we choose to live by. We decide what we are willing to accept, who we decide to be, and what innate laws govern our journey forwards. When we solidify ourselves in our truth, we build upon the foundations of our integrity. And as such, we are less likely to be swayed by external factors. Because when we know what is real within, we stand by it with courage and conviction. Mental and emotional cohesiveness act as our platform for intuitive intelligence. A validation of our own thoughts and emotions.
We bridge the gaps and fill our empty spaces with the fountain of our own love and devotion to self. And as we do so we ignite other hearts on the pathway to their cause.
Self mastery is birthed through being able to harness your mental, emotional, and physical energy toward the compass of your heart. Committing to what truly matters to you with no external approval needed.
“Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person” – Albert Einstein
